It's been quite a semester, and we are keen to update you on the many things going on at the KSU Wesley Foundation. The first thing we are excited to announce is that we now have an office! After months (and for some of us, years), of trying to find space to meet with students, we finally have a space all our own. The office is about a mile from campus, and has allowed us as a staff to be more available to meet with both each other and our students. The space also enables our students to meet together for small groups and social events more easily. In addition to all that, we are blessed to have a fantastic landlord who truly enjoys having us as tenants! Though the office has opened new doors for our organization, we are still holding our Wednesday night services on campus in the student center. We believe that connecting with students while physically on campus is an integral need at KSU, and we love the fact that we get to worship God at the very center of campus!
One of the biggest events we plan each spring at Wesley is our inaugural trip to Memphis, Tennessee. Each Spring Break, we work with Serve901, an organization dedicated to connecting volunteer teams with meaningful projects in the city. Through Serve901, we assisted several organizations, such as Landmark Urban Farms, Memphis Athletic Ministries, Kitchen Community Memphis, and Living Hope Church. One of our teams was even featured in the news! The trip also provides an opportunity to discuss racial reconciliation, and to see the ways churches and nonprofits like Serve901 are leading their communities into a wider discussion of understanding and healing. KSU Wesley had the privilege to tour the National Rights Museum on the fiftieth anniversary of Martin Luther King's death. This led our group to discuss the positive affect that diversity can have both on our campus and in our ministry. Wesley will continue our relationships with Serve901 and Memphis as a whole through future trips, and we are excited to see how we can learn, grow, and serve others as a community for many Spring Breaks to come.
As we head into summer, our staff is gearing up as many of our students leave for home, camp, or to travel abroad. Starting in June, we will hold weekly summer services in our office, and plan as many social events as we can for students taking classes and working in Kennesaw over the break. In addition, we will attend orientations to meet new students and to invite them into our community. The staff will use May as a time to review the spring semester and to raise support for our continued service at KSU Wesley. We ask for your prayers in this season, as the long-term leadership of Wesley depends largely on the Lord's blessing and on our ability to raise what we need for the year. We also ask for your prayer covering over our students as they pursue very different summer breaks. We are praying that their relationships with the Lord will continue to grow deeper, and that they will come back rested and refreshed for the Fall.
